Top Sugarcane Producing States in India
Uttar Pradesh: It is the largest producer of grains and sugarcane. Sugarcane cultivation is done in Western Uttar Pradesh, which produces 177 million tonnes of sugarcane every year.
Maharashtra: It produced 139 million tonnes of sugarcane in 2022 and 2023, which kept them in 2nd position. Sugarcane develops well in the Deccan plateau region.
Karnataka: This state secures the 3rd position in producing sugarcane. It produces 624.7 lakh tons of sugarcane in the year between 2022 and 2023.
Tamil Nadu: CoC 13339 type of sugarcane is cultivated in this state.
Bihar: Some districts in Bihar, like Darbhanga, Patna, and Muzaffarpur, play an important role in sugar cultivation. It produces sugarcane varieties like CoLk 12209, etc.
Gujarat: This state cultivates CoN 07072 and CoN 09072 varieties of sugarcane. Some districts, like Saurashtra and Surat, are major in sugarcane production.
