Fire retardant material such as Glasswool or Rockwool is filled between these layers for fire resistance. The door leaf is usually made of Galvanized Iron while the gaskets are made from a special type of fire-retardant polymer.

The door consists of a special fusible link which, on the incident of fire, melts causing the door close.
