A Beginner's Guide to Diablo 4 Necromancer: Skills, Gear, and Quests
Skill Selection and Upgrades
As a Necromancer, you can summon up to four skeletal minions to aid you in battle. Your skill choices should be tailored to your preferred combat style.
-
Blood Mist: This is a powerful defensive skill. When activated, it transforms you into a mist of blood, granting immunity for three seconds while dealing periodic damage to nearby enemies. Using a Overpower skill can reduce its cooldown, and upon its conclusion, it can increase your critical strike chance. However, the player notes uncertainty about whether this benefit extends to summoned minions.
-
Corpse Explosion: This skill allows you to detonate a corpse, damaging enemies in an area. A skill branch can increase its damage against slowed, stunned, or vulnerable enemies.
-
Curse Skills: These skills weaken enemies.
-
Decrepify: A curse that slows enemies and reduces their damage, with a chance to stun them.
Keep in mind that the Skeleton Mage is not unlocked until level 15. Additionally, you cannot have both Skeleton Mages and Skeleton Warriors active at the same time.
Gear and Items
Throughout your adventure, you will find various pieces of gear. You can either upgrade, sell, or salvage them.
-
Legendary Gear: Some legendary items offer significant advantages. For example, the "Superior Boots of Blood-soaked" allows you to become a swarm of bats upon a successful Evade, granting Unstoppable for 2.5 seconds. This effect can be triggered by actively using the Evade button.
-
Minion Damage Boosts: Prioritize gear that increases your minion's damage to enhance the effectiveness of your skeletal army.
-
Selling and Salvaging: Unwanted items can be sold to vendors for gold or salvaged for crafting materials. Certain quest items, like the "Woodcutter's Axe," can be returned to their respective NPCs for a reward.
Quest Walkthrough
Mixing main quests with side quests is a great way to gain experience and find valuable gear.
-
Woodcutter's Axe: This is a side quest. You must search for the axe in the wilderness. Once found, you need to return it to the monastery for a reward.
-
Mother's Blood: This is a main quest. You are tasked with meeting Vasshak in Nevesk and finding evidence of possession, such as "frozen vomit" and "bloody petals". To complete this quest, you must enter a crypt and find a relic called the "Infant Demon Fetal Membrane".
World Exploration and Town Portal
-
Exploration: Clearing caves and dungeons on the map provides significant experience and gear.
-
Teleportation: You must physically visit and activate each town's Waypoint before you can fast travel to it. The game provides an automatic Town Portal skill that takes you back to the nearest town you have visited.
-
Quest Markers: Quests have different markers; for example, Season quests are marked in purple.
