The CBSE textbooks for Classes 6-12 for the 2025-26 academic year have undergone a major upgrade to improve learning results and comply with current educational requirements. Here's a summary of the major updates and structure
Middle School (Classes 6–8)
Updated Curriculum for Class 6: Class 6, like Class 3, will use newly produced textbooks. The emphasis is on connecting primary-level information to more complex topics. Students in Science, Mathematics, and Social Science will engage in a more in-depth investigation of themes, including more practical applications and problem-solving exercises. A bridging course is being offered to help students adapt comfortably to the new curriculum.
Subjects such as AI (Artificial Intelligence) have also been introduced in Classes 8 and above as skill-based subjects, providing pupils with early exposure to modern technology and tools.
Secondary School (Classes 9–10)
Skill-Based Curriculum: A fundamental component of the new curriculum is the enhancement of skill-based disciplines such as Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology, and Web Development in Classes 9 and 10. These classes emphasize employability skills and real-world applications, pushing students to investigate technology and digital tools more practically.
The basic subjects of Mathematics, Science, English, Hindi, and Social Science maintain their rigorous structure, but with an emphasis on application-based problems that correspond to the CBSE board exam schedule. Updated textbooks will place a greater emphasis on practical learning, critical thinking, and problem solving.
Senior Secondary School (Class 11-12)
Skills and Vocational Subjects For Classes 11 and 12, CBSE continues to emphasize vocational and skill-based education. Graphic Design, Web Applications, and Cybersecurity courses have all been developed or modified to match industry standards and prepare students for jobs.
Traditional courses such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics, as well as Business Studies and Accounting, have had their textbooks revised to include more real-life examples, experiments, and problem-solving activities. Humanities stream disciplines such as History, Political Science, Economics, and Geography now feature expanded content that reflects current events and research-based learning.
