Dollar Tree Partners with Legion to Transform Labor Operations
Dollar Tree has teamed up with Legion Technologies, a leader in workforce management (WFM), to modernize labor operations and boost associate engagement across its vast network of stores and distribution centers in North America. (Dollar Tree has over 9,000 stores, 18 distribution centers, and more than 150,000 associates.)
Citing the need to balance operational efficiency with employee satisfaction, Dollar Tree’s leadership selected Legion’s platform for its ability to automate routine tasks, improve staffing accuracy, and integrate engagement tools within a unified system.
What the Partnership Delivers
AI-Driven Automation & Smarter Forecasting
Legion’s WFM solution will automate thousands of repetitive tasks across Dollar Tree locations such as schedule creation, staffing allocation, and shift optimization. AI-based demand forecasting helps the retailer right-size labor levels hour by hour to meet store traffic and demand.
Compliance, Visibility & System Integration
With operations spanning multiple states and jurisdictions, legal and regulatory compliance is critical. Legion’s platform includes built-in compliance features and gives leadership real-time visibility into labor metrics across stores. Importantly, it also integrates with Dollar Tree’s existing systems, preserving continuity while enabling modernization.
Employee Empowerment & Engagement Tools
For the first time, Dollar Tree associates will have access to a mobile interface through Legion’s app. Workers can:
-
Request shift changes or swaps
-
Communicate directly with managers
-
View feedback, performance incentives, and rewards
-
Manage scheduling preferences
This level of transparency and control is meant to enhance job satisfaction and reduce friction in daily operations.
Strategic Significance & Expected Impact
-
Operational Scale with Consistency: For a large retailer like Dollar Tree, applying consistent policies and automation across thousands of locations is complex. This partnership helps standardize operations while enabling local agility.
-
Better Labor ROI: Smarter forecasting and staffing decisions reduce wasted labor hours and overtime, improving margins.
-
Stronger Employee Experience: Giving associates a voice in scheduling and visibility into their rewards can help with retention, motivation, and engagement.
-
Modernization of Retail HR: This move aligns with broader trends in retail automating the behind-the-scenes work so that frontline managers can focus on customers and merchandising.
Dollar Tree’s Jocelyn Konrad, Chief of Stores & Enterprise Operations, said:
“We needed a platform that could improve labor management without compromising engagement. Legion’s solution helps us streamline workflows while delivering real value to the business.”
Legion CEO Sanish Mondkar also emphasized the balance between automation and fairness:
“Our platform ensures efficiency, visibility, and fairness across all store locations.”
