A Novice's Guide to the Necromancer in Diablo 4
1. Mission Strategy & Progression
-
Mission Types: The game features Main Quests, Side Quests, and Seasonal Quests. It's recommended to prioritize Main and Seasonal Quests. If a Side Quest is nearby, it's worth picking up and completing. This helps with leveling up and prevents you from getting stuck on Main Quests due to being under-leveled.
-
How to Accept Quests: Look for NPCs with a yellow or blue exclamation mark ("!") above their heads. Yellow marks usually indicate Main or important quests, while blue marks signify Side Quests.
2. Gear & Trading System
-
Equipment Quality: Gear comes in various qualities, with Rare (yellow) and Legendary (orange) being among the best.
-
Tempering System: This system allows you to enhance your gear. At the Blacksmith, you can use Tempering recipes to add powerful affixes to Rare or Legendary items. Be mindful that each item has a limited number of Tempering attempts.
-
Item Management:
-
Selling & Salvaging: Periodically visit a Blacksmith or a vendor in town to sell unwanted gear for gold or salvage it for materials. Salvaging can unlock new cosmetics or provide materials for crafting.
-
Pet System: Equipping a pet, like the "little dog" mentioned in the source material, allows for automatic looting of dropped gear and gold, saving you the trouble of manual collection.
-
3. Necromancer Skills & Minions
The Necromancer's core gameplay revolves around summoning undead minions to assist in combat.
-
Skeletal Warriors & Mages: You can summon both Skeletal Warriors and Skeletal Mages. A player can have up to four Skeletal Warriors and three Skeletal Mages at one time.
-
Skill Allocation: When you level up, you gain skill points. It's advised to prioritize increasing the damage of your Skeletal Mages to boost your overall DPS.
-
Bone Spirit Skill: This is a high-burst damage skill that consumes all of your Essence to summon a Bone Spirit that seeks out enemies. If an enemy is affected by the "Decrepify" curse and their health is below 10%, they will be instantly killed.
-
Minion Management: When you level up and acquire new skills, your minions might disappear and need to be resummoned. Always ensure you have the maximum number of minions to maintain your combat effectiveness.
4. Other Game Mechanics
-
Town Portals: In Diablo 4, Town Portals are crucial. You should activate them promptly to allow for fast travel between different locations, especially when your inventory is full and you need to return to town.
-
Wardrobe System: In town, the Wardrobe allows you to change your character's appearance, including helmets, armor, and mount gear, without affecting the stats of your equipped items.
-
Mounts: You can acquire a mount later in the game. Mounts can be equipped with gear and significantly increase your travel speed outside of towns.
-
Enemy Hordes: Actively seeking out and eliminating "enemy hordes" is a great idea. They usually signify a large group of monsters and the potential for greater rewards.
