How Turmeric is Cultivated?  

Climate Requirement: Turmeric grows well in clay soil or sandy loam soils. A warm, humid atmosphere is required for the growth of healthy turmeric.

Turmeric Varieties - Some of the varieties of turmeric are Erode Local, Amalapuram, Alleppey, etc. It needs different climates, soil, etc, to grow.

Turmeric Land Preparation: Tilling the soil, adding lime, and making beds or ridges and furrows are involved in land preparation. 

Plantation: Turmeric is propagated through rhizomes, and proper planting techniques ensure the healthy growth of turmeric.

Irrigation: Turmeric needs watering before and after planting at regular intervals.

Harvesting - Turmeric is ready to harvest in 7 to 9 months, depending on the variety. The dry leaves, which turn yellow, indicate it is time to harvest turmeric.
