'History' Park Hye-jung tries to make 'new history' in women's role on closing day

On the closing day of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, "History" Park Hye-jung (Goyang City Hall) will attempt to write new history in Korean weightlifting.

Park will compete in the women's 81-kilogram weightlifting event at the South Paris Arena in France at 6:30 p.m. KST.

Park is the clear favorite to win a medal at the Games after the South Korean weightlifting team finished with a 'no medal' at Tokyo 2021.

In this weight class, there is no one who can threaten her except for the absolute powerhouse Li Wenyuan (CHN).

Li has a 30-kilogram advantage over Park in the total.

She also has a 10-kilogram advantage over fellow medal contenders Emily Campbell (Great Britain) and Duangakthorn Chai-dee (Thailand).

Park solidified her status as the "undisputed runner-up" in the heavyweight category by winning back-to-back pushes at the World Championships 파워볼게임 last September and the Asian Games in Hangzhou in October, when Lee Won-won was injured during a match.

The only other South Korean medalist in the women's middleweight category is Jang Jang-ran (Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism).

Jang won medals in Athens 2004 (silver), Beijing 2008 (gold), and London 2012 (bronze), when the women's weight class was 75 kilograms or more.

If Park Hye-jung is on top of her game, she will have the honor of becoming the first South Korean medalist in the women's middleweight division in 12 years, after "legend" Jang Jang-ran.

With gender equality as the main banner of the Games, 파워볼 many of the final events were scheduled for women rather than men.

Nine of the 14 gold medals up for grabs on the closing day are up for grabs in women's events.

The closing ceremony kicks off at 4 a.m. ET on Dec. 12 at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis.

The Olympians will look forward to a reunion in Los Angeles (LA) in four years' time after a night of intense competition. 파워볼사이트
