🧠Academic and Research Background
Pinskiy earned his Ph.D. at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL), where he contributed to significant advancements in neuroanatomy and brain mapping. Notably, he co-developed a high-throughput histology pipeline utilizing a modified CryoJane tape-transfer technique, enhancing the efficiency and quality of whole-brain sectioning across various species, including mice, rats, and monkeys .
His research also delved into the neural mechanisms of arousal. In a 2015 study published in eLife, he explored how different frequencies of central thalamus stimulation affect cortical and subcortical networks, providing insights into brain state transitions .
During his tenure at CSHL, Pinskiy was part of the Mitra Lab, focusing on computational and experimental neuroanatomy, and was involved in community outreach, such as judging at science fairs to inspire young scientists .
